Why I don’t like Bombay!!
I was in Bombay for the past two days. O boy, the city was damn hot & humid!! Being living in Pune & Bangalore for last 2 years which are known for their moderate climates, I’m not used to such a climate. It was literally like hell!! And, travelling in Bombay is a pain in these conditions. Trains are so over-crowded that one has to start making way towards the door at least 2-3 stops before one wants to get off!! The road traffic is pathetic as well. As a Delhite, I’m used to drive on wide roads. But, Bombay has a very narrow roads and equally low road density . Result: roads are invariably choked, and traffic barely crawls. To me the whole of Bombay looked like Delhi’s Chandni Chowk. The place is so congested. Damn!!
Chalo, enough of Mumbai bashing for the time being!!
I went to Bombay to have a look at IITB. The campus is really nice. The hostels for SOM guys must be one of the best hostels in India. Met some of my would be batchmates and seniors. It was fun interacting with them. Also, had a visit to Hiranandani. Wow, its a rocking place. Unlike other parts of Bombay, its not too crowded. It’s look like that we have landed in another country. And, biggest plus point is that its just 3-4 mins walk from IIT campus.
Besides going to IIT, the other thing I did in Bombay was shopping. LOL!! Spend quite a fortune on clothers… =)
And, yup… I watched Kaal as well this weekend. Decent movie, specially the first half, which is very nice, very slick. BTW if you haven’t seen the movie yet, just wanted to tell you that Ajay Devgan is a ghost, and is the reason behind all those killings

Mr Karan Johar now you can sue Manpreet for letting the suspense out, as now no Blogger is going to watch the movie ‘Kaal’

Hey bhagvaan! First off Mumbai bashing and then revealing the suspense! Meri khushi chaar guna badh gai….first off am visiting Mumbai this year in the worst month of the year..August…and then really looking forward to watching kaal..kya yaar….thanks manpreet for sharing the valuable info and making moi feel better..ok on a serious note..thanks a LOT for promoting the bloggers meet…you will be there right? Hmm, bombay bashing again.
Waise bhi Delhi is also too hot, I was there around end of september. Still it was like mid summer there.
Am not going to watch “Kaal”.

Grrrrrr…I love suspense movies and I had heard that Kaal is a must watch…..if you were in front of me, I could have killed u!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh well, I guess I couldn’t do anything…other than passing on the suspense to my family & friends…
Anyways, I will leave this aside for now and will take care of this sometime in future.
So u had fun in Mumbai…I know the climate there could be really humid…but I am sure u will get used to it:)

actually main batati hoon ke kya hua….main do din pehle Yahoo Messenger par online ho rahi thi….aur mera ek stupid sa friend ne mere ko OFFLINE message bheja tha.. with the suspense of the movie..
ab main toh movie dekh nahi sakti..kyon ke stupid ne bataa diya..but you all chinta nahi karo..that’s NOT the suspense of the movie.

The movie is ok.. not too great.. John looks good in the movie.. but the rest of the gang has failed to make an impact!!
And, ya, mumbai is too toooo crowded!! You will be counted lucky if you can find a path where you can walk straight without colliding with any other person!! Do you know.. population density in bombay is 18000 persons/sq. km .. whereas in Delhi its just 6000 persons/sq. km. (according to 1991 census)

Mona dear don’t listen to Manpreet. Mumbai isn’t as bad as he makes it sound..just becuz he is a Delhite..he has to make it sound like the worst place in the world. But in fact Mumbai is the very best city in the world.

Ok, agreed.. bombay is good… what if its a big slum… mumbai is great city.. even if it takes 3 hrs to travel from one point to another… mumbai is awesome.. even if public transport can’t bear the ever-growing population… mumbai rocks.. even if the climate reminds you of chennai… mumbai is best.. even if its so smelly…

Just yesterday I was watching Zee news aur us main kah rahe the ke sarkar ko apna capital..bole toh Delhi ko New York jaisa banana hai…aaise sapne woh dekh rahe hain…saalon se yehi sapna dekhte hain..aur har saal ki tarah bas ek aadh poda lagaa dehte hain..aur phir soo jaate hain…..
Mumbai main kya nahi hai? Construction abhi chal raha hai sab jagah to of course make the roads better and to improve..isliya dhuan jyaada hoga…
aur please..don’t tell me that Delhi is not smelly…my god…Mumbai se toh far worse hai in that category..
Trains…granted that the Delhi Metro is brand spankin’ new and you can’t really compare it to Mumbai’s local trains….but Mumbai’s local trains are the jaan of Mumbai..if you go at the right time..koi problem nahi hoga…yaad nahi hai ke maine aur Neeraj ne kaise tere ko chadaaya tha going to Goregaon??
Slum??? Please. Delhi ko dekho..how much garbage they have..how much poverty they have…slums ki toh baat hi chodo..kahan India main nahi hai slums?? Aur the most richest bikhaari kahan milega?? Aamchi Mumbai aaye aaye..Aamchi Mumbai.

Actually, the problem with Indian cities.. is inefficent government!! Even if they have the money they don’t utilize it properly.. the major part of that money goes into their pockets itself!! What we need is a bigger intiative from localites… they need to be taught civic manners first…. cleanliness is a big issue.. Constructing metro’s, flyovers etc won’t do anything if people still spit anywhere they want to!! if we can keep our homes clean, why can’t we keep our surroundings clean as well? Making bombay into shanghai is all crap.. just politics!! Rather than talking, these folks should do something before these cities die!!

Hiranandani rocks for sure. The one place that’s actually gud in mumbai and probably the only one. However, u’ll soon get used to the fast paced n cramped life of mumbai. So look ahead to it.
