Locked out!!

What would you call a person, who leaves the keys inside the house, goes out, and shuts the door?

An absent-minded idiot

Yes’day, I came back home at around 1.30 - 2 am, but had to go downstairs for some work. But, after few minutes, when I came back upstairs, I realised that I have left the keys & even my wallet inside.

Since nothing could be done at that hour, I spent the night at a friend’s place.

Then, after all this drama, I went out to find a keymaker first thing in the morning. Fortunately, he was able to open the lock in just about 5 mins, giving me enough time to get ready, and come to office.

Generally, if I forget the keys inside, I just call up my roomie as he has the duplicate key. But, since these days, this poor soul is staying alone… the only solution was to somehow break the lock or get a new key made.

I just hope, this doesn’t happens again!! It’s really frustrating!!

[Gaurav] No, I don’t have a doormat in front of my house. Even if I had, no way I’m going to keep my keys underneath it. :)

Hmm, locked out??. Never happened to me till now. But yeah, its frustrating to get locked out in the night.

The old locks, which were used in India are better. Atleast you will be sure, to take the keys with you. :D

oh… glad that u were able to open again… but, i was jus imagining.. if the keymaker could open houses like this in 5mins, then wondering what security we r having in locking the houses…. isn’t it??

I don’t think such a person would be called an absent minded idiot. I have done the same thing twice in the last 4 months. The first time, my husband was out of town and couple of my friends came over to pick me up for a movie. I locked the door from inside and stepped out shutting the door…didn’t realize what i had done. That night came back home around 1:30 am and that’s when I first realized that the keys weer actually inside. One of my friends had come form out of town and she had a flight at 5:00 in the morning and her stuff ws inside my house!!!!
Both me & my husband’s house keys are with the car keys. The second time we both stepped out of the house talking and didn’t realize that both of our car keys (& ofcourse the house keys) were inside. So we didn’t even have our cars….luckily had our cell phones so called one of friends for our rescue.

I did exactly same thing in 1986. I locked the whole family out. And the night was spent at neighbours :)

Wow, sounds cool to me…not! Man, I would be totally freaked out…I am not a very brave person when it comes to situations like that but you handled it well, good job!

[Govind] Yeah.. old locks are good.. atleast I won’t be locked out again!!

[Prasad] Yeah.. that was the first thing that came into my mind when I called the keymaker!! I guess, he can open almost all kinds of locks!!

[Mannat] Good to hear that I’m not alone :P And, you are 1 step ahead of me actually… u committed the same mistake twice!! :D

[Poonam] LOL.. I never read that post!! Haha!! Ya, after this incident, I now always check whether I have the keys or not before locking the door :P

[Manish] Looks like I have got plenty of company… :D No phone.. no money… no footwear… OMG.. that must be a really frustrating moment!!

In my case, since my friends stay just 2 mins walking distance from my place, I didn’t had much prob!!

[Ankur] 1986!! U must be a kid then!! :p

[Aaina] Cool…!! How can this be called cool? :)
