Delhi Rains = Traffic Jams
150 mins. Thats the amount of time it took me today to reach office - all thanks to Indra Devta who suddenly got Meherbaan on Delhi last night.
On a normal day, it takes me around 1 hour to reach Gurgaon. But, today the state of roads was pathetic - fallen trees, stalled vehicles, huge potholes everywhere.
Kind of reminded me of Mumbai - where this scene is pretty normal during the monsoons. What I really dislike is the lack of any effort taken by the government to improve the situation in Indian cities. Even an hour of rain brings a whole city to a standstill.
Govt keeps on talking about robust GDP growth rates, increasing spending power of the middle class, bull runs in stock markets, making Mumbai the next Shanghai etc, but they don’t do much to improve the infrastructure.
I wonder how will they manage to host Commonwealth Games in 2010 when they can’t even manage yearly monsoon downpours.

Agree with you….all this shit about ppl having more dispensable money & malls n stuff…sab bakwaas…one heavy downpour & the roads are all clogged…

Poonam: I guess you didn’t read the post properly. I mentioned that this is a routine affair in Mumbai. Just look at Mumbai’s situation right now - all clogged due to rains.
Actually, its not Delhi Vs Mumbai. It’s the Delhi & Mumbai Vs Indian Govt. Both the cities have awful infrastructure, and Government is doing nothing to improve it.
Mehak: Exactly, a comman man just needs proper infra - no bakwaas like this!

mumbai handles it better than delhi…. because they are more used to it.. hence MUMBAI ZINDABAD.

Poonam: I am again saying Mumbai can’t be compared to Delhi.
Delhi is a city. Whereas Mumbai is just a big slum!!!

mumbai a big slum? you talk like delhi doesn’t have ANY slums???
Aankhein kholo Manpreete…lagta hai chashma ki jarurat hai… Delhi is filled with slums.. you go through one section of Delhi on your way to Anand Vihar and the smell of the slums is sooo bad.. there is nothing like that or compared to that in Mumbai.
